Tonal Hands-On Training Workshop
"Life is an expression of tone; the cause of disease is any variation in tone." — D.D. Palmer, The Chiropractor's Adjuster, 1910
We all learned that quote. Most of us can recite it from memory.
And yet, what do we actually do in practice? We find fixations. We move bones. We deliver force into joint spaces. We said "tone," but we adjusted bones. We said "intelligence," but we delivered force. We said "the body heals itself," but we moved bones rather than communicating information to allow the body to move itself.
This is the gap. We believe one thing. We often do another.
Talsky Tonal Chiropractic closes that gap.
A Model First. A Technique Second.
TTC returns to the original intent of chiropractic: the progressive reduction of physical interference to the nervous system maintained by incomplete and abnormal movement of spinal segments. It begins with a recognition that the body is an intelligent system that wants to correct.
We are not working with bones. We are working with a complex, sensory-rich, independently motile suspension system known as the NeuroSpinal System — the brain, spinal cord, meninges, cerebrospinal fluid, dural attachments, and fascial continuities that together serve as the body's primary tone-setting structure. This system sets tone before the vertebra compensates.
This is not osseous. Not articular. TTC delivers precise, non-articular communication through touch to the soft tissue and meningeal system; the least amount of the most effective information, vectored along the line of correction, parallel to aberrant tone. Every contact is made with the intent to influence the whole, not just a part.
Why Protective Tone Persists
Subluxation begins upstream of joint fixation. The initiating event is the perception of threat, whether actual or imagined. This appraisal triggers a Meningeal Bracing Response: an active contractile state in the NeuroSpinal System, sustained by fibroblast-to-myofibroblast conversion until the system receives sufficient information of safety to release.
Consider: under anesthesia, a patient's hamstring stretch goes from 45 degrees to 90 — without tearing anything. The limitation was never structural. It was neural. Protective tone, maintained by the CNS, restricts range until the threat signal is removed.
The same principle operates in subluxation. Protective tone persists until the system receives permission to unwind. TTC doesn't force that change. It delivers a precise corrective signal: congruent in vector, load, and intent, so that the system chooses to reorganize.
Three principles guide the work:
We do not seek to apply force to what is stuck. Instead, we seek to engage what is ready.
We are not looking for what's fixated. We are looking for the best window in.
We are not looking for the most resistance. We are looking for the most receptivity.
When you understand this, your existing technique doesn't become irrelevant. It becomes more informed. You start reading the body differently. Your hands become more precise because you know what you're actually interacting with.
TTC enhances whatever you already practice:
Tonal techniques: deepened by directly engaging the primary tone-setter with vectors determined by dural tension rather than energetic or fascial distortion
Upper Cervical: informed by the upstream mechanism that creates cervical patterns
Pediatric: refined through non-articular, non-osseous contacts
Osseous techniques: elevated by understanding why the bone moved in the first place
What Chiropractors Say After the Training
"My whole awareness has expanded, going to apply this to all of the other techniques I've learned. This is the missing piece I didn't know I needed." - Jamal Früster, DC
"This weekend was absolutely incredible! I've been practicing primarily TRT for the last 7 years and this training took my understanding to an entirely new dimension." - Anne-Marie DiNardo, DC
"The seminar was necessary for the evolution of the chiropractor going from a mechanistic to a vitalistic approach. Papa Marv bridges that gap like no one else." - Matthew Richmond, DC
Six Decades. One Question.
Marvin Talsky, DC, known to the chiropractic world as Papa Marv, graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic in 1963 and has been in continuous clinical practice for over 60 years.
But he didn't just practice. He studied under the founders themselves. He spent 10 years under Clay Thompson learning Thompson Terminal Point. He practiced Activator for 20 years and became the first Activator DC in Illinois. He studied Network Chiropractic with Donald Epstein for 5 years. He trained directly with Major DeJarnette (SOT), Ralph Gregory (NUCCA), I.N. Toftness, and Vernon Pierce Sr. (Pierce/Stillwagon). Palmer Upper Cervical. DNFT. He went directly to the source, again and again.
And through all of it, one question kept returning: If subluxation is fundamentally about altered nervous system tone, why do we primarily address it through moving bones?
In 1995, Papa Marv co-founded Torque Release Technique, developed and structured the Torque Release Model, and taught the first 51 TRT seminars. TRT became one of the most widely taught tonal techniques in the profession.
But the question wasn't fully answered. So he kept going.
By 2001, his continued refinement had become its own paradigm: Talsky Tonal Chiropractic. He has now taught over 100 post-graduate seminars, designing and running them yearly since 1995.
What makes Papa Marv rare isn't just his six-plus decades of experience. It's his intellectual honesty. He studied under the greatest names in the profession, built something successful, and then had the courage to keep asking whether it went far enough.

We've completely transitioned from a seminar format to intensive hands-on training. You practice and refine throughout the entire weekend. 30-person cap, so everyone gets direct instructor feedback.
Your Instructor Team:
Jeremy Faue, DC, Zach Conner, DC in-person instruction
Marvin Talsky, DC (Papa Marv), live throughout the training via Zoom
What You Walk Away With:
- The NeuroSpinal System model: a complete framework for understanding subluxation as a tonal phenomenon
- Non-articular, non-osseous adjusting contacts that communicate directly with the meningeal system
- Tonal analysis methods: how to find the best window in, rather than the "primary" fixation
- A lens that enhances any existing approach (Osseous, Upper Cervical, Pediatric, Tonal)
- A framework for never-ending optimization
